Historical Note

Arthur D. Little, LLC consulting firm was formed in 1886 by Arthur Dehon Little and Roger B. Griffin. The business was originally established in Boston, Mass. at 103 Milk St. By 1909, Arthur D. Little was the largest consulting industrial laboratory in the nation. In 1917, Little had a 3-story brick building constructed at 30 Memorial Drive in Cambridge for the company's labrotory use.This building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 and is a National Historic Landmark. It is known as the “Arthur D. Little Building” and is part of the MIT Sloan School of Management.In it's over a century long existence, the firm has been recognized for an array of projects and accolades inlcuding their work with the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company and General Motors, creating the first commercial textile fiber from cellulose acetate in the U.S., created a silk purse from a sow's ear, and Designing the NASDAQ stock exchange system.
