This collection covers the years 1972 – 2011 and consists of six boxes of Planning Board documents concerning special permit applications. It also has two boxes of reports, meeting minutes, newsletters, proposals, petitions, and surveys from a variety of neighborhood committees and organizations as well city departments, all of which concern various urban planning and development issues in Cambridge.

Biographical Note:
Hugh Russell is an architect and long time member of the Cambridge Planning Board. He attended Harvard where he received a BA in 1964 and an MArch in 1967.
He worked at Sert, Jackson Associates in Cambridge from 1969-1973. He was a partner in the firm Massdesign Architects and Planners in Cambridge from 1973-1977. From 1977 to the present he has been with Hugh Adams Russell, Architects, renamed Russell & Scott Architects, and later renamed Russell Schott Steedle & Capone Architects, also in Cambridge.
He has been involved with the following pertinent organizations:

- Harvard Square Advisory Committee: 198?-2015.
- Cambridge Planning Board: 1988-present. Chair in 2010’s.
- Citizens Advisory Committee on Charles River Parkland Mitigation: 1991-present.

Scope and Contents
This collection covers the years 1972 – 2011 and is divided into two series.
Series One consists of six boxes of Planning Board documents concerning special permit applications. The folder list is a spread sheet, which is arranged alphabetically by street address. The information for each address includes proponent, significant dates, PB number, project name and description, and a list of folder contents. Box 6 contains for the most part information concerning University Park.
Series Two consists of two boxes of reports, meeting minutes, newsletters, proposals, petitions, surveys from a variety of neighborhood committees and organizations as well city departments, all of which concern various urban planning and development issues in Cambridge.
